GlobeRanger and Bechtel Jacobs Successfully Track Chain of Custody of Hazardous Materials at Department of Energy Site in Tennessee
BJC extends subcontract commitment to deploy GlobeRanger’s iMotion Edgeware TM to ensure continued safe disposal of contaminated waste
Richardson, TX – March 1, 2010 – GlobeRanger Corporation, the leading global provider of end-to-end enterprise solutions and professional services for RFID, mobility and sensor-based solutions, announced today it has completed two subcontract extensions with Bechtel Jacobs Company LLC. These extensions expand upon the system previously deployed at East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP) and are pivotal to the continued support of Bechtel Jacobs’ efforts for clean-up and safe removal of hazardous waste from the decontamination and decommissioning of various facilities, disposition of wastes and restoration of the environment.
Bechtel Jacobs provides the environmental remediation services in which the waste material is transferred to designated landfills. Each disposal vehicle must be recorded in detail prior to departure, and then verified, weighed and or time stamped at various checkpoints along the route. Strict record keeping is essential to the process and has traditionally been a laborious process. Utilizing GlobeRanger iMotion software platform, the system is designed to automatically identify vehicles at designated checkpoints, thus giving Bechtel Jacobs visibility into real-time material tracking as well as the ability to remotely manage the RFID systems, even in locations where infrastructures may be non-existent.
GlobeRanger software is responsible for collecting and processing data from a variety of devices including handhelds, fixed RFID readers and weigh scales. The system, based on strict business logic and workflow guidelines, instantly flags and provides alerts and notifications if processes or time schedule variances deviated from pre-defined Bechtel Jacobs’s route expectations. In the first ten months, the system has processed over 17,000 trucks, resulting in increased efficiencies, reduced carbon footprint and significant cost avoidance.
“GlobeRanger Corporation was selected because of their industry-leading iMotion Edgeware Platform and their strong experience in DoD RFID deployments,” said Don Scheve Bechtel Jacobs CIO. “The iMotion platform was critical to creating new processes for real-time visibility and increased operational efficiencies of disposal truck shipments year over year.”
“GlobeRanger is pleased to support Bechtel Jacobs in the deployment of this complete end-to-end chain of custody tracking of contaminated material at ETTP,” said Michael Bigbee, Senior Vice President-Sales at GlobeRanger. “As a subcontractor to Bechtel Jacobs, we recognize the critical nature of this subcontract extension for the restoration and ultimate conversion of ETTP to the private sector”.
