Sarbanes-Oxley The Subject Of Two MTBC Programs In May

Virtually every company in the U.S. has been and will continue to be affected by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The most comprehensive reform to the federal securities law since the 1930s, Sarbanes-Oxley is re-shaping the way America does business.

Passed in the wake of the Enron and WorldCom scandals, the Sarbanes-Oxley law requires companies to meet new provisions regarding disclosure of financial information. The law has created thousands of jobs and cost thousands of dollars as companies have scrambled to meet the compliance deadlines.

The Metroplex Technology Business Council will offer two distinct programs addressing compliance issues with the Sarbanes-Oxley law in May.

Life Sciences, Bio-tech Key To Local Turnaround, UTD Professor Says

Life sciences and bio-technology are going to be the major sectors of the economy that will re-build the region's technology industry in the next 10 years, according to University of Texas at Dallas economics professor Don Hicks.

Hicks' forecast was made to a select group of CEOs and presidents during the first MTBC CEO Forum on March 31. He based his remarks on recently completed research titled “Bringing Dallas to Life, Accelerating the Development of a Regional Bio-Economy: Opportunities and Obstacles.”

Tech Titans, Titan Fast 50 Award Nominations Due May 31

Nominations for the seven primary Tech Titans awards and the Titan Fast 50 will be accepted through May 31. Awards categories include the Corporate CEO Award, Emerging Company CEO Award, Corporate Horizon Award, Emerging Company Horizon Award, Leadership Award, Community Hero Award and the Technopolis Award. In addition to these seven awards, the Titan Fast 50 will be awarded to companies in two categories: those who have grown the fastest in five years and those who have grown the fastest in one year.
