The JOBS Act: Big Benefits for Emerging Growth Tech Companies
Featuring David Weild, former Vice Chairman of NASDAQ and Head of Capital Markets Thought Leadership at Grant Thornton
About the program
The enactment of the Jumpstart Our Business Startups or JOBS Act in 2011 brought the term “Emerging Growth Company” to the forefront of government-sponsored business stimulus programs by relieving them of certain regulatory and disclosure requirements. Technology companies have the potential to take advantage of the Act’s provisions to raise capital and target institutional investors. David Weild, known as the “Father” of the JOBS Act for his preliminary studies on the issue, will provide an informative look at the benefits provided by the Act, including:
1. How and why did it happen? How did the definition of an Emerging Growth Company become so large?
2. How do the US equities markets rank for entrepreneurs vs. other notable foreign markets?
3. What are the implications to funding private and public companies? How are issuers using the JOBS Act today?
4. When are we likely to see rules from the SEC that affect Crowdfunding or “Tick Sizes.” ? How will those rules change the capital formation game?
