2012 Nominations Open Now - June 4th
The North Texas Metroplex region is one of the world's premier breeding grounds for ideas and innovations in technology. Behind this growth are individuals, companies, and institutions that are leading the way.
They are Tech Titans.
Nominate the individuals, companies, and institutions that should be honored as the 2012 Tech Titans. These awards will be presented at the August 24th Tech Titans Awards Gala and the winners will be recognized in a special section of the Dallas Business Journal.
The Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) is accepting nominations in 13 award categories now through June 4th. The MTBC defines the Metroplex as the 11 counties in the DFW North Texas region including Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant and Wise counties.
2012 Tech Titans Award Categories
CORPORATE CEO AWARD
The Tech Titan Corporate CEO Award recognizes the CEO or division President of a company with U.S. headquarters in the Metroplex with 100 or more employees in the DFW location for leadership within the technology and communications industry.
EMERGING COMPANY CEO AWARD
The Tech Titan Emerging Company CEO Award recognizes the CEO or division President of a company with U.S. headquarters in the Metroplex with less than 100 employees in the DFW location for leadership within the technology and communications industry.
CORPORATE INNOVATION AWARD
(Formerly Corporate Horizon Award)
The Tech Titan Corporate Innovation Award recognizes a company with 100 or more employees in the Metroplex for outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through recent or potential breakthrough technology or approach within the technology and communications industry.
EMERGING COMPANY INNOVATION AWARD
(Formerly Emerging Company Horizon Award)
The Tech Titan Emerging Company Innovation Award recognizes a company with less than 100 employees in the Metroplex for outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through recent or potential breakthrough technology or approach within the technology and communications industry.
TECHNOLOGY INVENTORS AWARD
The Tech Titans Technology Innovators Award recognizes the pioneering accomplishments of a person, team or group responsible for the creation of breakthrough ideas, processes or products which have advanced the discipline(s) of the arts, education, electronics, energy, engineering, environment, medicine, and/or science. The person or team/group lead should be with a company in the Metroplex.
CORPORATE CTO AWARD (NEW in 2012)
The Tech Titans Corporate CTO Award recognizes the Corporate Technology or Science Officer of a company based in the Metroplex, who has demonstrated exceptional technical leadership, team building, creation and maintenance of a creative environment, and market awareness skills. Ideally, these skills should have fostered the inception and development (not adoption and adaptation) of new technology that led to novel product(s), service(s), intellectual property, and/or processes that
brought significant value to their company.
INVESTMENT CATALYST AWARD (New in 2012)
The Tech Titan Investment Catalyst Award recognizes a significant investment transaction occurring since January 2011 that impacts and delivers significant long-term economic prosperity and sustainable economic results for the Metroplex and improves the technology innovation investment climate of the region.
TECHNOLOGY ADOPTER AWARD
The Tech Titans Technology Adopter Award recognizes a company with U.S. headquarters in the Metroplex, whose core business is not a technology product and/or service, for outstanding adoption and application of innovative technologies that successfully change and impact business results.
TECHNOLOGY ADVOCATE AWARD
The Tech Titans Technology Advocate Award recognizes a Metroplex technology advocate/champion for their outstanding leadership in assisting, advancing or accelerating the performance of technology companies and/or the technology community. Providers eligible for this award are individuals; law, accounting, venture capital and recruitment firms; educational institutions; and, related services companies.
COMMUNITY HERO AWARD
The Community Hero Award recognizes an individual within the Metroplex technology industry for their outstanding achievements in community involvement in the Metroplex.
TECH TITANS OF THE FUTURE AWARD CATEGORIES
TECH TITANS OF THE FUTURE UNIVERSITY LEVEL AWARD
The Tech Titans of the Future University Level Award recognizes an educational institution in the Metroplex that encourages and supports students to choose engineering and technology related disciplines as a preferred career path. This award category spotlights DFW area higher educational institutions’ technology related curricula and incentives to perpetuate tech-related knowledge transfer. The award finalists display creative, innovative approaches that reach out to students and other learning-minded professionals and related institutions.
The nomination requires testimonials from two current or former students, educators or other individuals who have excelled or benefited from this program.
Testitmonials must be submitted on the Tech Titans of the Future University Level Testimonial Form.
TECH TITANS OF THE FUTURE HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER AWARD
The Tech Titans of the Future High School Teacher Award recognizes a high school (grades 9-12) math or science teacher in the Metroplex for development and implementation of an innovative teaching technique or program that inspires student interest regarding further educational and/or career pursuits in science, technology, engineering or math. The teaching technique or program must demonstrate opportunity for students to gain applied knowledge.
A lesson plan may be included in the nomination.
Tech Titans will entertain the nomination of not more than one math or science teacher per high school in your district.
The nomination requires testimonials from three current or former students.
Students must complete the Tech Titans of the Future High School Level Testimonial Form.

TECH TITANS HALL OF FAME AWARD
TECH TITANS HALL OF FAME
The Tech Titans Hall of Fame award honors a technology visionary from the Metroplex for outstanding leadership in assisting, advancing and accelerating the performance of the technology industry and/or adoption of technology in North Texas; spanning decades and reaching far beyond the individual’s company/organization. Only individuals are eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame including corporate technologists, non-profit individuals, venture capitalists, educators, and individual contributors. The frequency and selection of inductees is at the discretion of the MTBC Executive Committee and the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. For more information contact Bill Sproull, MTBC President/CEO.
