Don’t Miss the 2007 SBIR National Conference Oct. 29-Nov. 1

Want to know more about Small Business Innovative Research Grants (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Grants?  Then plan to attend the 4-day SBIR National conference at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson, Oct. 29 - Nov.1.

The SBA’s Office of Technology administers these two programs.  Through these two competitive programs, SBA ensures that the nation's small, high-tech, innovative businesses are a significant part of the federal government's research and development efforts. Eleven federal departments participate in the SBIR program and five departments participate in the STTR program.
For example, the Department of Defense fund $1 billion each year in early-stage R&D projects at small technology companies – projects that serve a DOD need and have commercial applications.  SBIR programs provide up to $850,000 in early-state R&D funding directly to small technology companies or individual entrepreneurs who form a company.  The STTR program also provides up to $850,000 in early-stage R&D funding to small companies working cooperatively with researchers at universities and other research institutions.
Small companies retain the intellectual property rights to technologies they develop under these programs.  Funding is awarded competitively, but the process is streamlined and user-friendly.

The SBIR National Conference will feature speakers, panels, how-to-session for both Phase I and Phase II applicants, in addition to one-on-one sessions with program managers from the 20 federal agencies that will be in attendance.  For more information, registration and program details go to www.sbirtexas.com or contact Sue Walker or call 972.792.2806.
