Experiences of a Serial Entrepreneur and Private Space Explorer
Astronaut Anousheh Ansari will speak at
11:15 am - 1:30 pm on
February 22, 2008, at the 3rd Friday Technical luncheon at the
University of Texas at Dallas, Galaxy Room.

Internationally acclaimed Anousheh Ansari will relate experiences from her venture as the first female private space explorer as well as her adventures as a serial entrepreneur. Hear first hand her view of risk and her measured commitment to both pursue and survive it! As always, insightful table discussions and unforgettable dialogue with Anousheh will round out the program.
On September 18, 2006, Anousheh Ansari captured headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer. She was the fourth private explorer to visit space and the first astronaut of Iranian descent. Back on Earth, as a successful serial entrepreneur, Anousheh returned to her job as co-founder & chairman of her latest technology company, Prodea Systems.
In 2001, Anousheh served as co-founder, chief executive officer and chairman of the board for Telecom Technologies, Inc., an Inc. 500 and Deloitte Fast 500 company. After earning three key U.S. patents and growing the company to 250 employees with 100% sequential growth year over year since inception, the company successfully merged with Sonus Networks (Nasdaq: SONS), a provider of IP-based voice infrastructure products, in a deal worth approximately $750 million. She served as the company’s chief executive officer and chairman of the board. Telecom Technologies created a product called a “softswitch” that allowed voice communications over the Internet.
Anousheh has received multiple honors, including the World Economic Forum Young Global Leader 2007, DFW International Community Alliance Hall of Fame award, the Working Woman’s National Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, George Mason University’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, George Washington University’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award, and the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Southwest Region.
The MTBC believes students should have the opportunity to see and hear an astronaut, which will encourage the students to continue their science and match education. Fifth grade students in the Richardson, Plano, Garland School Districts, selected schools of the Dallas ISD, and other specially targeted programs will be invited to attend the luncheon. As a way to encourage classes to attend this exciting event, MTBC wants to provide this opportunity at no charge to the students or the school. Sponsor packages are limited to 15 tables, or 150 students, for this exciting opportunity.
Sponsor a table of Students! Sponsored tables of ten people (9 students/1 teacher) are $250 which includes photo of sponsor and Anousheh with each student table and one mission patch to each student. Your company will receive recognition at the luncheon. Contact Paul Bendel at 972-792-2864 for more information.
