Growing Leaders from the Bottom Up

Anyone who’s been through a merger or acquisition has likely experienced the exodus of management and leaders that often accompanies this level of change, especially within a smaller company that is merged into a large, stable company and its culture.  This was certainly the case with the employees of the former Convex Computer Corporation as we were acquired and began to learn to work within Hewlett-Packard.   While we were pleased to be able to continue working in Richardson and in the computing industry, the challenges and changes left us with a gap between the local management skills and the leadership needed to keep the teams here delivering on our commitments to the corporation.  When mid-level management opportunities opened up and our new company determined that there were very few viable local candidates for those roles, those of us already in local management and leadership roles became concerned about the sustainability of our organization here and our ability to contribute to the level required to demonstrate long term viability of our organizations.  To address this, we began to develop a program to increase the leadership capability and competency of our people.

Your Company Information Needed for MTBC Directory

Information on every MTBC member company’s products and services is an important part of making the 2009 membership directory, Tech Trends – The Official Publication of the MTBC, an informative publication that promotes the North Texas technology industry. This is why the MTBC is requesting all member companies complete a Member Verification Form.

The information on the form – a simple four line description of products and/or services…will be used to showcase MTBC companies in a comprehensive membership listing in the magazine. And, it ensures that every company’s listing will have accurate information on such important elements as the physical address, telephone number and website address.
