2008 Tech Titans Winners Announced

The 2008 MTBC Tech Titans winners were announced at the 8th Annual Tech Titans Awards Gala on Friday, September 26 at the Marriott Dallas Plano at Legacy Town Center.  This flagship event attracted over 700 business and community leaders from DFW’s high-tech industry and featured 10 prestigious awards for accomplishments in the field of high technology, research and education.  Please click here for some pictures taken at the event.

The following individuals and organizations were honored:

Corporate CEO Award
Recognizes CEO leadership within the technology and communications industry.

Winner: Patrick Brandt, former President and CEO, Skywire Software

Emerging Company CEO Award
Recognizes CEO leadership for an emerging company within the technology and communications industry.

Winner: Greg Smith, President and CEO, Accudata Technologies

Corporate Horizon Award
Recognizes outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through recent or potential breakthrough technology or approach within the technology and communications industry.

Winner: Samsung Telecommunications America

Emerging Company Horizon Award
Recognizes outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through potential breakthrough technology, processes or services within the technology and communications industry.

Winner: RipCode, Inc.

Technology Innovators Award
Recognizes the pioneering accomplishments of a person, team or group responsible for the creation of breakthrough ideas, processes or products which have advanced the discipline(s) of the arts, education, electronics, energy, engineering, environment, medicine, and/or science.

Winner: Dr. Bill Krenik, Jeff Bellay and the LoCosto Development Team, Texas Instruments

Technology Adopter Award
Recognizes a company whose core business is not technology products/services for outstanding adoption and application of innovative technologies to successfully change and impact its business results.

Winner: American Airlines

Technology Advocate Award
Recognizes a technology service provider for outstanding leadership in the community by assisting, enabling or accelerating the performance of its technology clients. Providers eligible for this award are law, accounting, capital venture and recruitment firms; educational institutions; and, related services companies that support technology and engineering companies or organizations.

Winner: The Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UT Dallas

Community Hero Award
Recognizes an individual within the technology industry for outstanding achievements in community involvement.

Winners: Shaunna Black, Vice President and Manager of Worldwide Facilities, Texas Instruments & Kevin Lofgren, Founder and CEO, Farstar

AeA Texas Legends Award
 
The AeA Texas Legend Award is given to an individual, company or organization in Texas whose vision and leadership has had a significant influence on "advancing the business of technology".

Winner: Pike Powers, Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P.

Tech Titans Of The Future

Recognizes educational programs designed to address the gap in the student pipeline in technology disciplines and/or educational programs between technology businesses and educational institutions whose purpose is to provide qualified graduates to the technology industry.

Winner (University Level): Richland Collegiate High School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering, Richland College

Winner (High School Level): Dr. Rebecca McGowan Jensen, Dallas Independent School District’s School for the Talented and Gifted.

The Tech Titan Fast 50 annually recognizes the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the DFW Metroplex, based on percentage of revenue growth over five years and one year.  The list is composed of forty five-year growth companies and ten one-year growth companies. Please click here for the list in ranking order.

Special thanks go out to the event sponsors, volunteers and staff who made this event such a huge success.  Thanks to their efforts and generosity, over $25,000 was raised during the live and silent auctions and over $30,000 was awarded to the Tech Titans of the Future winners and nominees.  This event strives to award the stellar accomplishments, groundbreaking research and cutting edge technology that we have grown to expect here in the area and it is only through the support of our friends and sponsors that this continues to be possible.  The DFW Metroplex is, perhaps, the true Tech Titan here!
