Tech Titans/Titan Fast 50 Winners Announced At Annual Gala

DALLAS (Aug. 19, 2005) – The Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), the region's most prominent organization supporting technology, has announced the winners for its fifth annual Tech Titan Awards that honor outstanding technology businesses and individuals in the North Texas area for their contributions this past year in nine categories.

The event, held at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts and Corporate Presentations in Richardson, was attended by more than 800 high-tech company executives, employees and industry VIPs.

Hall of Fame Award recipient is Texas Instruments, Inc.

Corporate CEO Award winner is Anthony J. Affuso, chairman, CEO and president, UGS.

Corporate Horizon Award recipient is Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc. (ANS).

Emerging Company CEO Award recipient is George Grayson, chairman & CEO, istation.

Emerging Company Horizon Award winner is Zyvex Corporation.

Leadership Award winner is Skywire Software.

Community Hero Award recepient is Franklyn Jenifer, Ph.D., retired president, University of Texas at Dallas.

Technopolis Award winner is Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Titan of the Future Award winner is Articulated AS Engineering Degree, Richland College.

In addition, the Titan Fast 50 Awards were presented to the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, based on percentage revenue growth over five years (2000 to 2004) as well as percentage revenue growth over one year (2003-2004). Corporate CEO (Companies with more than 100 employees) – Recognizes CEO leadership within the technology and communications industry.

Emerging Company CEO (Companies with less than 100 employees) – Recognizes CEO leadership for an emerging company within the technology and communications industry.

Corporate Horizon (Companies with more than 100 employees) – Recognizes outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through recent or potential breakthrough technology or approach within the technology and communications industry.

Emerging Company Horizon (Companies with less than 100 employees) – Recognizes outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through potential breakthrough technology, processes or services within the technology and communications industry.

Leadership – Recognizes a company within the technology and communications industry for outstanding community leadership and support to business, civic, community, and/or educational programs.

Community Hero – Recognizes an individual within the technology industry for outstanding achievements in community involvement.

Technopolis – Recognizes a service organization or institution (i.e., accounting, law, recruiting, education, venture capital firms, etc.) for outstanding leadership in bringing the technology community together in order to help build a better supporting infrastructure.

Titan of the Future – Recognizes educational programs designed to address the gap in the student pipeline in technology disciplines and/or educational programs between technology businesses and educational institutions whose purpose is to provide qualified graduates to the technology industry.

Founded in 1994 by MCI, Nortel Networks, Fujitsu, and Rockwell International, the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) is most comprehensive association for high-tech companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth and North Texas area.
