MTBC Announces 2006 Tech Titan Winners

DALLAS (Aug. 22, 2006) - With the help of “Brainy the Brainiac” the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) held its 6th Annual Tech Titans / Titan Fast 50 Awards gala Aug. 18 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas.

The event was attended by more than 700 high-tech company executives, employees and industry VIPs and featured the presentation of nine Tech Titans awards, including the debut of two new award categories and the Tech Titan of the Future – High School Pilot Program.

The Tech Titan winners were:

  • Corporate CEO (Companies with more than 100 employees): Michelle Peluso, president and CEO, Travelocity and executive vice president, Sabre Holdings
  • Emerging Company CEO (Companies with fewer than 100 employees): Barry D. Nalls, president and CEO, Masergy
  • Corporate Horizon (Companies with more than 100 employees): Retractable Technologies, Inc.
  • Emerging Company Horizon (Companies with fewer than 100 employees): Masergy
  • Leadership: Cisco Systems
  • Community Hero: Debbie Mrazek, president and CEO, The Sales Company
  • Tech Advocate (previously called the Technopolis Award): Ayoka Systems
  • Tech Adopter (new for 2006): Methodist Health System
  • Tech Titan of the Future – University Level: Academic Bridge Program, University of Texas at Dallas
  • Tech Titan of the Future – High School Pilot Program (new for 2006): David Carroll, physics curriculum and teacher training, Plano West High School, Plano ISD
  • Tech Titans Fast 50 (50 fastest-growing technology companies in the Metroplex):

The Tech Titan of the Future – High School Pilot Program all received $500 and the winner received $2,000.  Tech Titan of the Future – University Level finalists all received $1,000 scholarships and the winner received a $10,000 scholarship.

The evening’s emcee was David Johnson of KRLD, and presenters included Rusty Cone, MTBC chairman and Alliance Systems president, and event sponsors.
